Internationales IF-Boot Treffen in Stralsund
International IF-Boat Meeting in the Hanseatic City of Stralsund
June 12–15, 2025
Dear IF-Boat sailors and aspiring sailors,
We are very excited to announce that the German IF-Boat Class Association (Deutsche IF-Boot Klassenvereinigung e.V.) is inviting you to an international gathering in Stralsund.
The event will feature numerous opportunities to connect, exchange ideas, and enjoy races on the Bodden waters north of the Hanseatic city.
The focus will be on the joy of sailing rather than serious competition, and we look forward to welcoming many national and international guests and their families to this special occasion.
We aim to share knowledge about our classic IF-Boats, including regatta tactics, repairs, sailing trips, and more. The goal is to create a great learning platform for both experienced IF-Boat sailors and new boat owners.
The 75th Stralsund Sailing Week will provide the framework for the event. This traditional sailing festival, which has taken place annually since 1949, transforms the entire city into a maritime spectacle. Here’s the link to the event: https://ssw.my-odoo.de/
According to discussions with the organizers, the current program is as follows, and we are warmly invited to participate in this regional sailing event:
Thursday, June 12, 2025 – Arrival
Friday, June 13, 2025 – Group breakfast, followed by a race
Saturday, June 14, 2025 – Regatta around Hiddensee, approximately 42 nautical miles (start: 8:00 a.m.), followed by an evening event (Sailors’ Party)
Sunday, June 15, 2025 – Group breakfast, followed by a race
The event is truly international, and we warmly invite sailors from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom to join this special gathering. I sincerely hope that many international guests will make their way to the historic Hanseatic city of Stralsund to share the joy of sailing with us, make new connections, and immerse themselves in the unique maritime atmosphere of this storied city.
Stralsund, located at the bridge to the island of Rügen, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002 and well worth a visit. Its historic old town features around 520 architectural monuments and is surrounded by water—the Strelasund and the city ponds. The seaward silhouette is defined by the harbor and the three large parish churches, which are visible from afar.
